Redesign the UI for the Eurosport mobile app.
There were several challenges upfront that I needed to work around. he company was going through a rebrand at the same time. The guidelines for which were very much a work in progress by an external agency and the app I was working on was to be the first platform to use this new brand. As the guidelines itself would only cover print and digital, I really only had fonts and colours to go on and then try to get a feel for the brand. As this was to be eventually rolled out over other platforms.
The initial deadline, which included coming up with a look and feel, was 2 weeks. This time was used to try out ideas and bounces them around the department for feedback. This was a period to gain a basis to move forward on.
As time was not on my side, the agreed idea in the short-term, MMVP if you will, was to use the structure of the existing site as a starting point but work with UX to make improvements and refinement that could be built upon later on.
What you have below and further down the page are all elements that can be used to build pages for the mobile app. The idea was to then use the same look and feel across to the tablet app and then to responsive web and recreate elements where necessary.
Not over crowding components was a big goal of mine. I had to push back to POs for wanting to add more and more elements which would have made the design cluttered.
Clear and clean navigation,
Imagery that stands out,
CTA’s that are easy to find,
Contrast of colours (accessibility AA),
Crisp fonts and font sizes,
Components have space to breathe.
I ended up creating a design that I feel is a good use of the brand, uncomplicated, clean and clear that allows the user to easily navigate and find the content they are looking for.
